Senior members usually curl on Tuesday & Thursday afternoons, unless we consistently have more than 24 members turn out. When this happens we introduce 10:00 am curling on Tuesday and Thursday, so that everyone has an opportunity to curl at least twice per week. It has happened before! We do NOT have an organized “league” of fixed teams. Instead, our “teams” are made up of those members in attendance. The day’s teams are made up shortly after 1PM and, after any announcements, discussion and/or debate, the “teams” go on the ice, usually no later than 1:30 PM. We try to rotate team positions and players each day so that all senior members have an opportunity to play the different positions as well as to play with different people. Many of us use a “stick” to deliver the rock rather than bending and lifting a stone in the hack (the Club has a few sticks for general use). Those who have trouble sweeping don’t need to. And those wanting a pre-game hand of bridge (or some other game of chance) should show up earlier.
As the opportunity arises, we arrange a day-time home-and-home series with other Clubs in the Valley. These adversarial clubs are typically Clare, Digby, Middleton and Berwick.
If, as well, you want to curl in any or all of the evening leagues, then you must join the Curling Club as a regular member.
We are always looking for new Senior members. If you are interested then contact one of the executive members below or come to the Club on a Tuesday or Thursday and introduce yourself. Try it out for a day or two. We are a friendly group. Note: there is one constraint. The ice is slippery, so you will require appropriate footwear. You CANNOT wear your street shoes on the ice . . . bits of gravel, mud, or assorted pieces of vegetation seriously hamper the game.
Our season runs generally from November 1st thru the end of March. Senior club members must be fifty (50) years of age or more.
